Hampshire Hotel wins Gold!
The Holiday Inn, Winchester has received the highest “Green” accolade. It’s been awarded a Gold standard under the Green Tourism Business scheme for its performance as a sustainable tourism operation.
The scheme is the only certification scheme validated by Visit Britain, through the International Centre for Responsible Tourism (ICRT).
The Holiday Inn, Winchester and its management team were commended for achieving Gold on their first application to the scheme. They were also complimented on a “real can-do” attitude.
The scheme’s assessors went on to highlight “the range of excellent energy management practices and good waste management”. They also applauded the visitor charter created by the Hotel to improve the green message and the hotel’s “very good local and fair trade purchasing”.
On receiving the award Hotel General Manager, Siobhan Thomasson said, “We are delighted that the Holiday Inn Winchester was designed and built with all the latest technology for energy conservation, heat management and water recycling. Since its opening in 2010 the management team has continued its commitment to raising its green standards and spreading the messages about conservation and sustainability”.
