Historical Package

Winchester, the perfect English city crammed with hidden gems and world class attractions and architecture deserves a couple of days of your time.  Book our two night historical package and take time to appreciate this vibrant and culturally rich location.

To ensure you get a real taste of Winchester we have included the following activities in the package:

•    A walking tour of Winchester College – Founded in 1382 the college provides education for 70 scholars and 700 additional pupils.  The tour concentrates on the medieval heart of the college and you will get to view Chamber Court, the 14th Century Gothic Chapel, College Hall – the scholars dining room where the boys still eat their supper on a wooden plate seated on the original long wooden benches and the medieval cloisters. 

•    Tickets to Winchester Cathedral – built by the Normans almost 1000 years ago the cathedral is popular with both tourists and locals.  View the 12th Century Bible, Grave of Jane Austen and contemporary sculpture.  Numerous seasonal events also take place such as the Christmas market and ice rink and a number of Christmas Carol concerts open to the public.  We also include a copy of their Souvenir Guide as a memento of your visit

•    Tickets to the Hospital of St Cross, Englands oldest Almshouse – take the short stroll past the river to the Hospital of St Cross.  Founded in 1825 the hospital was built to support 13 frail men who could not work and feed 100 men at the gates each day.  View the 12th Century Church, Brethren Hall, Victorian Kitchen, Meat Room, cellar and other tudor and medieval buildings.  Your ticket also includes the Wayfarers Dole -  a small beaker of beer and a morsel of bread!    

The package includes accommodation for two nights in one of our well appointed, modern bedrooms, full English breakfast each morning and dinner in our Morn Hill Brasserie on one of the nights. The Morn Hill Brasserie was launched in November 2011 and features menus specially written by the hotels Head Chef, Paul Bentley using local produce from Hampshire. Also included are Tickets for Winchester College’s walking tour (lasting approx 1 hour), tickets to Winchester Cathedral and souvenir guide and tickets to St Cross Hospital.
