Holiday Inn Winchester Access Statement

The Holiday Inn Winchester warmly welcomes all guests and as a hotel purpose built in 2010 can cater for all guests needs and requirements.

Located only a 5 minute drive from Winchester City Centre and the M3, the Holiday Inn Winchester makes a perfect base to explore Winchester, Hampshire and the surrounding areas. The hotel can arrange transport into the city centre or there is a bus stop at the end of the hotel drive should you wish to make your own arrangements – timetables are available at reception. Winchester City Centre also offers a number of parking options should you wish to drive. 

The hotel was designed to cater for guests with accessibility needs and offers a number of facilities to make sure your stay is a comfortable one.

Your arrival & Check-in

As you arrive there are a number of accessible parking spaces at the front of the car park and a covered drop off area at the front of the hotel is also available for your use. Parking costs £10 per night for all guests. Everyone will need to register their vehicle at reception. The hotel entrance has level access. 

The hotel reception is large, light and spacious with a hard non-slip floor and plenty of seating. We offer luggage assistance to all guests. The reception desk has a lowered section to make check-in easier for wheelchair users. Staff will offer directions to your room, give an overview of facilities and answer any questions you may have. Mobile induction loops are available from reception – please ask if this is something you require. 

Accommodation

The hotel has 8 accessible bedrooms all interconnecting with other rooms suitable for other family members or carers. The accessible rooms all have double beds and have been specially adapted for wheelchair users. Light switches are in a lower position, wardrobes and hanging rails are at a lower position, hairdryers can be taken to the desk area which is well lit and has a mirror located above it and the air conditioning control panel is also located at a suitable height. Bathrooms are wet rooms and feature walk-in showers and sinks at a lower level. These rooms do not have baths. Both the bathrooms and bedrooms have emergency pull cords that alert our 24 hour reception once activated. Vibrating pillows are available for guests if required. These are decibel related and can be used for wake up calls and in the event of an emergency. The televisions in all bedrooms offer Teletext and subtitles and have internet facilities. For those wishing to dine in their rooms 24 hour room service is available.  

Bar, Lounge, Restaurant and Terrace

The Bar, Lounge, Restaurant and Outdoor Terrace are all located on the lower ground floor accessed by our lifts and are all level access throughout. The Bar, Lounge, Restaurant and Outdoor Terrace are all large, light and airy and air-conditioned. All areas have plenty of seating and upright chairs can be taken from the restaurant into the lounge if required. If desired, guests can eat from the Bar/Lounge menu at a restaurant table if this is more comfortable. 

The chef can cater for all dietary requirements – advance notice is preferred if alternative produce is to be purchased. Menus are available in large print and staff will be happy to talk through the items if requested to do so. 

Accessible Unisex Toilet

The hotel has an accessible unisex toilet which is located in the bar, lounge, restaurant area. The facilities include toilet, low-level sink and hand dryer, emergency pull cord, handrails, baby changing and nappy disposal bin. In support of Hadley’s Heroes and their continued campaign to provide better-changing facilities for older children and adults, the hotel is happy to provide the use of a bedroom free of charge if required. General Information & Emergency Procedures

The hotel has 2 lifts to access the bedrooms (located on 3 floors) and the Restaurant, Lounge and Bar. These are talking lifts and can be found at either side of reception.  All signage meets the required standard with regard to visibility and all corridors, doors and entrances are wide enough for wheelchairs and other mobility aids. The hotel is well lit throughout and has plenty of natural daylight. There are no heavily patterned carpets and the décor is light and fresh.

The accessible bedrooms are located on the ground floor and in an emergency, members of the hotel team will assist with evacuation. For guests located in the first-floor bedrooms, the hotel has evacuation chairs which staff are trained to use. Each stairwell also has a refuge point with an intercom to reception to be used if required.
