Jane Austen spent most of her short life in the county of Hampshire. The house at Chawton is where Jane Austen spent the last eight years of her life. It was in this cottage that Jane began to write seriously, working on Sense and Sensibility,followed by Mansfield Park and Emma.
At the young age of 41 Jane Austen died after a short illness and was buried in Winchester Cathedral, a building she greatly admired.
